Pyramid Lake

To keep with the Desert part of the name, we will add another run out to the Nevada Desert. May be one of the last rides over the Sierras this year.

This will be another long ride, probably 400 miles plus. It will involve some freeway riding, hopefully not too much. Also a bit of Suburban roads through Sparks. Because of the length a bit more freeway than normal. On straighter sections I'll keep to Bob's pace. On twisty roads we are about the same, on straighter sections Bob tends to be 5-10 mph faster than me.

Morning will see us take freeway up to Oroville, then the Feather River Canyon. Past Quincy we will follow Hwy 70 to 395, south to Reno. From Sparks we will take Nv 445 up the east side of Pyramid Lake until the road turns into dirt. From there we will turn around on NV 446 and 447 until we cross US 80 at Wadsworth. From there it is 97 south to 50 West and then a loop through Virginia City. Over Mt Rose Highway, around North Shore of Tahoe and CA 267 to Hwy 80. Exit at Donner Lake interchange and old Hwy 40 to Hwy 20 and return through Nevada City and Hwy 49. With some freeway and some desert sections there will be some straight stretches, but enough twisties to wear out a bit of the side of our tires. The ride will include some farm country, some desert sections and some forested mountains, should be a good variety.

Meet at the Shell by Brookfields in Roseville for 8AM KSU. I'll try to be at Brookfields at 7 if anyone wants to join me for breakfast.
