Join Our Core Team!

Details

Interested in civic tech? Want to contribute to your community? Want to learn new coding and design skills while meeting new people? Consider joining Code for Charlottesville’s Core Team.

Code for Charlottesville is part of the Code for America network. We are dedicated to volunteerism and community service. We work on projects with a tech focus to benefit a nonprofit or governmental organization in Charlottesville or the surrounding region. We launched a little over a year ago, and we have worked on projects with the Legal Aid Justice Center, the Charlottesville Fire Department, and the Charlottesville Office of Human Rights. We are getting ready to announce a series of new projects. But first we need a team of people with vision and passion for technology and community service.

Please join us this Saturday at 4pm over Zoom for an information and question and answer session.

Why should you consider being part of the core team?

• As a Core Team member, you will have an important role in developing new projects. You will get to work closely with people in the community to learn about the real needs our community partners have, and the ways technology can meet those needs.

• You will meet people from the tech industry in Charlottesville and beyond, as well as many people from the University of Virginia.

• You will get to learn about cutting edge technologies in database engineering, front-end programming, user experience design, and analytics.

• You will have access to the Code for America slack and discourse forums, and you will be invited to the Code for America virtual (and eventually in person) conferences and events. It’s a great way to meet people in the tech industry who are using their skills for good.

• It’s a wonderful way to give back to Charlottesville and the surrounding region!

If a leadership role that combines community service and tech sounds interesting to you, please join us Saturday. If you have any questions, please contact Jon Kropko at jkropko@codeforcharlottesville.org.
