Hack Night August 2019 - Featuring Tarik Moody

Come to Code for Milwaukee's Hack Night! Hack nights are a great way for anyone (technical or non-technical) to come together and work on solving problems affecting our local community. Whether you are coding, designing, strategizing, or something else you are welcome to attend and collaborate!

Please bring a laptop! You can also bring guests along to join in on the action.

NOTE: Change to the featured guest. Unfortunately, Dr. Kowalik will be unable to join us for this hack night, due to an abrupt scheduling conflict. However, we are very excited to be featuring Tarik Moody as our guest speaker, who will discuss digital innovation and some upcoming opportunities to "hack hunger."

Featured Guest:
Tarik Moody is the Director of Digital Strategy and Innovation and Host for 88Nine Radio Milwaukee, a non-commercial radio station in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. 88Nine Radio Milwaukee champions Milwaukee – its music, arts and culture, neighborhoods and community organizations. 88Nine Radio Milwaukee celebrates diversity and encourages community engagement and aspires to be a force that breaks down barriers and brings people together.

Tarik has lived all over the country, practiced architecture in Detroit and Minneapolis, and served 14 years in the Army Reserves. He leads the award-winning Rhythm Lab Radio show, which started back in 2005 on The Current in the Twin Cities, and has contributed to Milwaukee and its airwaves for over a decade. Tarik has a love for food since he was young, and learn how to cook from his parents and grandparents.

Tarik graduated in 1996 from Howard University’s School Of Architecture in Washington, D.C.

Parking:
Parking is not free on UWM campus grounds. There is a parking garage under the UWM's Lubar Hall with a tunnel that connects to Bolton Hall. The fee to park is $2 an hour for the two hours, then $1 an hour following. Most attendees pay $5 or less for parking.

The surrounding streets follow City of Milwaukee street parking rules, including some areas designated as Resident Only parking (need permit). You may park in the surrounding neighborhoods granting you follow posted signage and regulations. Attendees have reported being able to find free street parking as close as 2 blocks from campus.

UWM has free bike parking (including Bublr bikes) and plenty of MCTS stops available. We encourage you to use these when possible, or carpool, to save resources and money.
