Kickoff Demodam - a Common Ground showcase website

Details

Demodam is a website for a fictional municipality to showcase reusable open source digital services and components, developed by the Dutch Common Ground community. All companies, governmental organisations and individuals involved in Common Ground are invited to take part in this session, in which we will collaboratively design how we will work together in this public-private partnership.

*** More about Demodam ***
The Demodam site is intended to show, not tell, what the Common Ground vision can deliver for municipalities: high quality, re-usable digital services. But Demodam is much more than a collection of shiny applications. Demodam will serve as a catalyst for the Common Ground ecosystem in two ways:
At a technical level, Demodam will facilitate the integration of highly reusable components, in a production-like environment. This means that components showcased on Demodam will be relatively easy to re-use, much like apps in the appstore of your mobile phone. It will also serve as a sandbox environment to help projects innovate and integrate much quicker.
At an organizational level, Demodam will stimulate the collaboration between governmental organizations and commercial organizations (mostly suppliers in the ecosystem). Demodam will be a stimulus for collaboratively setting the standards for components (security, usability, architecture, coding standards, etc.) and it will stimulate the maturity of the ecosystem as a whole.

The Foundation for Public Code will advise the Demodam initiative on collaborative governance, which we expect will be closely related to the governance of the Common Ground ecosystems.

** About this session **
This online session will consist of a short introduction about the goals of Demodam by Edo (Dimpact), after which Jan and Alba (Foundation for Public Code) will host the workshop part. We will collaboratively design how we will work together, touching on the pains and gains of all involved, how to organize ourselves, how to deal with the challenges and how we can make Demodam a great example of how public services can work.

Please spread the word about this session!
