I am working on several web site that provide views on thousands of Open Source projects hosted on GitHub. I use various techniques to collect the data from GitHub.
In some cases I clone the repository and analyze the files, in other cases I use the REST and the GraphQL API of GitHub.
In this presentation you will see an introduction to the REST and GraphQL APIs of GitHub and you'll see how the data is collected for the various reports I need.
Although there are plenty of examples I would like to show, I am also open for requests. If you'd like to know how to extract specific data from GitHub, let me know up-front and I'll try to include that in the presentation.
