Engaging Hate: We are All so Precious; ‘Getting Even’ Traps Our Blessings

I shared a study about outcomes.
He demanded I answer specific questions on the spot.
I felt it was hypocritical, I said: “you haven’t even read it!”
As soon as I said it, I knew I was getting even,
so I admitted taking the bait.

Speaking later,
we were very candid and kind.
Our dialogue improves.

• Interact with dignity role playing
• Practice listening & be heard
• Explore choices to protect our dignity
• Learn to measure dignity (or the lack) in interactions
• Maybe even learn to teach

Our starting container

• Cooperating to balance all our interests with the precious time we share
• We can all do better (it’s okay to not be perfect)
• Making sure we all get home safely
• Willingness to learn to accept folx of different genders, classes, sexual orientations, ages, religions and abilities.
• Asking before introducing graphic topics (sexual or violent for instance).
