3rd Annual Lightning Tech Talks at Westside Bowl

Code Youngstown is excited to invite you to our third annual Lightning Tech Talks event!

We'll be hosting 6 tech-related talks, each up to 6 minutes long, at Westside Bowl on Tuesday September 27th at 6:00pm!

What is a Lightning Talk? A lightning talk is a very short presentation lasting only a few minutes, given at a conference or similar forum. Several lightning talks will usually be delivered by different speakers in a single session.

Doors 6:00pm, talks 6:30pm. Food and drink purchasable at the bar.

Anthony Hake:
- Emulation: It Isn't a Game
- A short presentation on software imitation vs hardware imitation and it's importance in education and multimedia preservation

Ben Rinehart
- Building Cross Platform Mobile Apps with Ionic
- During this talk we will show you how you can build cross platform native iOS, Android, and PWA Web apps with Javascript. We will show how Ionic can leverage native APIs such as Camera, Geolocation, or Storage to provide a superb application, using the JavaScript frameworks you already know and love.

Brandon Ritchie
- Music School to Software Development: Transferring Skills between Professions
- A short presentation on the things that helped me switch career fields that might also help you.

Neil Primmer
- Anatomy of a podcast
- An overview of the components and workflow that make a podcast work.

Chris Palmer
- Embedded ray tracing
- A talk about the tradeoffs I needed to make in order to get a ray tracer to run on an Arduino uno.

Garrett Huggins
- Javascript: what is nothing?
- A brief look at some of the nuances found in Javascript, with a few "wtf moments" along the way.
