Developing Under Stress

Details

Today's focus will be on how to implement a solution under stress, and we will discuss techniques for making agile, agile, and for simplifying your work management and keeping focused.

The objective is to allow us to do in four hours what we usually do in a week. Maybe we can then take the rest of the week off?

One of the most important requirements from our clients has been rapid development to meet deadlines, without destroying the stability of the solution, and without introducing technical debt.

I'm curious to see how others have approached this, and will share the experiences I've had in building applications under stress.

For this particularly day, we will have two sessions.

8-10 will be the getting setup, and discussing the techniques for rapid development.

It is important therefore that you arrive before 07:30 so that you have time for coffee and snacks before the session begins. Those that are late will be required to pay a penalty to the entire group (probably push-ups or severe mocking!)

10:30 - 16:00 will be the main sessions (with a break for lunch) in which we will save the human race from destruction by delivering a working solution by 15:30. After all, that is what stress really means.

If your solution passes the tests, everyone is saved :-)

otherwise... :-(

The actual project will be announced at 10:30.

Any suggestions for the session are welcome.

Your R100 payment for the event will be refunded at the event, or donated to Kids Haven if you prefer. This is to ensure that people don't book unless they actually intend to come to the event. Staff from our corporate sponsors don't need to make a payment.
