Are you looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity? CODE PDX is here to help! We are designers, developers, and product managers, both experts and learners, coming together to make our city better for everyone. We welcome all skill levels and disciplines.
CODE PDX is made up of individuals who are interested in changing Portland for the better. We work with local government to fix local services, utilize open data to improve citizen knowledge, and work for the betterment of all. We are just getting started, so there are plenty of opportunities to use your skills. Even if you are not a tech type, we can still have opportunities for you to contribute. Are you interested in enhancing your technical skills in Applied Computing? Oregon Tech is offering a free course and a free laptop (upon successful course completion) through the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) | Future Ready Oregon Workforce Grant.
· Course: ENGR 307 – Introduction to Applied Computing
· Format: Fully online
· Schedule: Wednesdays, 6:00 – 8:50 p.m. (Winter 2026 Term)
· Instructor(s): Oregon Tech faculty and external industry partners
· Credit: 3 credits, may be counted as a technical elective

This exciting opportunity is funded through a $709,546 Future Ready Workforce Grant from the Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC), awarded to Dr. Neslihan Alp, Dean of the College of Engineering, Technology, and Management, as Principal Investigator (PI), with Dr. Naga Korivi, Dr. Mostafa Saber, Prof. Gary Lomprey, and Dr. Praveen Guraja serving as Co-Principal Investigators (Co-PIs). The project is supported by industry and community partners including Technology Association of Oregon (TAO), CodePDX, and Link Oregon.
