[6:45-7:00] Learn how you can be involved in technology for the public good with Code for PDX!

[7:00-7:45] presentation and Q&A
Evan Henshaw-Plath (@rabble), a fellow Portlander, and the founder and CEO of Planetary (http://planetary.social/). He was the first employee and tech lead at Odeo, the company that created Twitter, and taught collaborative product design at the MIT Media Lab's Center for Civic Media.

What would it look like if we controlled our own social media data and relationships? We could connect to our friends without companies like Facebook deciding what we see.

Secure Scuttlebutt (https://www.scuttlebutt.nz/) is a decentralized protocol for social software. It’s a server-less open network where you host the content for your friends.

Planetary is building a social media app on top of Scuttlebutt which lets people switch off of the centralized corporate controlled systems of Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

[7:45-9:00] Project meetings and hacking.
