Figuring out how JavaScript fits into the world of software engineering can seem complex. In the Coding for Beginners course (also known as JavaScript for Beginners), we will break everything down for you and give you a road map of how coding works.
Coding for Beginners is a live, online course taught over two consecutive Saturdays with project presentations the following Monday:
- Saturday, October 19 from 9-3pm PT / 12-6pm ET
- Saturday, October 26 from 9-3pm PT / 12-6pm ET
- Monday, October 28 from 6-7:30pm PT / 9-10:30pm ET
This course is designed to be your introduction to coding, so no prior experience is required. However, to get the most out of the course, we ask incoming students to start working on fundamental JS concepts by completing Precourse Part 1 and 2 on CSX, our free learning platform. It is highly recommended to complete these units prior to beginning the course.

Join us for this free information session, covering our full-time and part-time immersive programs. We'll go in depth on the curriculum, financial aid, scholarships and how best to prepare. We’ll end the session with a Q&A with the Codesmith team.
During this event we'll go in depth on:
- How Codesmith prepares you to become a mid to senior level software engineer in a few months
- A week by week breakdown of what you learn in the program (beyond just JavaScript!)
- What we're looking for in applicants and the best way to prepare for the admissions process
- The Codesmith hiring support program that continues from your first job search until you retire

This is an interactive workshop and a great opportunity to engage with the Codesmith community, so we encourage you to come with your camera on and ready to get involved!

Coding for Bootcamp Prep (also known as CS Prep) is a 2-week live, online part-time program that covers JavaScript concepts, engineering best practices, and technical communication. The program includes daily problem-solving workshops and a passionate coding community to help you prepare for top coding bootcamps, such as Codesmith's selective Software Engineering Immersive programs.
This is a live, online course taught over two weeks with classes on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday, with a 1.5 hour presentation the Monday of the third week:
