OpenCourts Project - Biweekly Sync
Details
OpenCourts.FYI is organizing data in the North and South Carolina legal system. Starting with aggregate datasets from South Carolina courts, volunteers will create systems and processes to collect and transform data into common formats. These principles of analysis are drawn from guidance provided by the legal accountability organization Measures for Justice, whose limited work in the Carolinas we are trying to renew and expand.
This effort is building toward multi-state data portal that catalogues and publishes trusted, permissively-licensed court records to ensure open legal data remains a public good accessible to everyone.
The meeting consists of a "Scrumban" where we celebrate completed work, review work-in-progress and pull work items from the backlog. Most discussions are asynchronous over at our Github project.
Anyone welcome whether an already identified volunteer on the project or just curious. We do encourage new participants to fill out this interest form.
