Learn to Code with AI Assistance & How to build an AI Agent

Details
In this month's meetup, we're getting up to speed on the latest in AI. There have been so many cool new things released for builders over the last few months that we thought it made sense to share those and do some hands-on howto's.
The agenda for the evening:
SHOW & TELL
We'll start with a 'show and tell' - anyone who has something cool that they've been working on, this is your chance to share with fellow builders. There will be a prize for each demo. (Please add a comment if you would like to show something).
We'll then split into two groups:
BEGINNERS
For beginners we're going to give you a free workshop on how to code in Python with AI assistance. The idea is that once you learn how to have AI help you code, you can be more ambitious about the kinds of things you can build. It also helps you learn the coding itself. We'll be doing this in Google Colab notebooks so all you will need is browser and free Google account.
INTERMEDIATE / ADVANCED
Chris Boden will demo some of the exciting new tools for building AI agents. We'll cover off how to use open source models at a fraction of the cost of openai/anthropic, through new API gateway providers like groq and openrouter. We'll also look at running the new llama3 model locally. For agent capabilities, we'll cover off function calling and tool use.
Thanks to the support of our tech community from the Bendigo Community Bank SC, we will have gourmet pizza, craft beer & cold drinks during the networking session.
