From Scripting Glue to Next.js Level App Development
Description:
As a Developer Community Program Manager, I was glued to using Google Sheets and Apps Scripts.
My MongoDB colleagues unglued me from scripts and stuck me to try and use a database instead. We took this as a task for our internal hackathon and set out to build an app for storing our local user groups event data.
After the initial struggles in deciding on a stack, we finally decided to use Next.js, MongoDB, and their seamless integration to build a Web App to view and ingest data. In this session, I will share the daily progress, challenges, and success we had as we built our Next (.js) Level App in a few days!

Fuzzy Text Search: An unassertive guide to almost getting what you want.

In this presentation, I'll explain what fuzzy logic is and demonstrate a number of methods you can use to implement this into your application. Ranging from not so fuzzy to very fuzzy. As well as some methods you can use to increase efficiency and when each method is suitable.

- Ngrams (trigrams)
- levenstein distance
- phonetics (Soundex, Metaphone, Double Metaphone)

We'll also look at a small dataset and the results you can expect.
