On Monday, August 18, 2025, we’ll gather at Starbucks to discuss The Old Man and the Sea (1952) by Ernest Hemingway.

This brief but powerful novella is a touching and tragically beautiful meditation on courage, love and respect between the elderly and young people, endurance, grit, and the human spirit. It was Hemingway’s final published work in his lifetime—and, in my opinion, his greatest.

Whether you’ve read it once or many times, we’d love for you to bring your thoughts and reflections.
