The Amazing Race for Housing: 2024 CO Main Street 2.0 Investing Initiative

Details
The "Amazing Race for Housing" represents a groundbreaking effort to address our current housing crisis at its core. Despite significant public investments in recent years, we continue to face one of the most pressing housing challenges of our time. This webinar aims to shed light on the potential solutions and resources available to tackle this crisis.
Did you know that there are 38 million millionaires in the U.S. and 800,000 millionaires in Colorado alone? While the federal government supports angel investors for startups, there is still no established source of federal or state government funding to educate and mobilize investors specifically for housing, nonprofits, and businesses. Our goal is to change that by encouraging federal and state governments to incentivize the creation of Main Street investor groups, similar to angel investor groups, to bridge the financing gap.
To provide a real-world example, the U.S. Forest Service is in need of $15 million in investment for a $90 million Dillon Workforce Housing Project, even after the land was provided by the U.S. Forest Service, and grants were offered by the State of Colorado and Summit County. We believe that by educating and organizing a community of millionaires, foundations, wealthy families, and companies, we can mobilize the necessary resources to co-invest in projects like this, along with nonprofits, small businesses, startups, cooperatives, tandem-hybrid organizations, and funds. Together, we can provide quality housing for those who work tirelessly to restore our forests and combat wildland fires.
