Muir Beach & the Secret Staircase Loop 8-9 Miles

Come join us for this beautiful 8/9 mile hike to Muir Beach. We will start at the Dias Ridge Trail head (where it meets Panoramic Highway) then hike the Miwok Trail/ Redwood Creek Trail to Muir Beach. Before we take a lunch break we will hike to the top of the "Secret Staircase" (to the top of where the beautiful houses overlook Muir Beach). We will then have lunch at Muir Beach and enjoy the sites.

After lunch we will hike back on the 3.5 mile Dias Ridge Trail (longer version past the horses).

The hike is approximately 8 miles (9 miles if you complete the secret staircase). You will have the option of skipping the staircase hike if you want a more time at the beach.

We start at 10am so you can sleep in.
We should be back at our cars around 3pm.

Please arrive around 9:50am to give you time to find a parking space along the side of the road near the trail head.

There are bathrooms at Muir Beach. There is no fresh water available on the hike.

Join us afterward for a beer at "The Junction."

Hiking pace: Medium to fast. Not for beginning hikers, but a comfortable pace for experienced hikers. We hike at a pace where we can have a nice conversation (2.5 MPH estimate)

There will not be any water available on this hike so bring plenty (2 liters).

Please arrive a few minutes early. We will circle up on time and leave immediately afterwards.

Please change your RSVP no more than 24 hours in advance if you cannot make it. If you do not take yourself out of the hike more than 24 hours in advance or simply not show up (3 times) you will be removed from the group. There may be people on the waiting list wanting to participate.
