Begin building the future through "conversation for possibility." - Werner Erhard
Where is the magic happening? Where could it happen? How can people come together and connect with others with similar interests in social change, and with experiences they can draw on?
Join us at this month's Collaboratory Melbourne Meetup to connect with other change makers, social innovators and future builders for conversations of possibility.
Mark Granovetter (http://sociology.stanford.edu/people/mgranovetter/documents/granstrengthweakties.pdf) identified the best way to use your social network effectively is by using your acquaintances and casual connections (weak ties) rather than your close friends (strong ties). So, join us for an event that offers ideas and insights about the things we're passionate about - and forms bridges between social circles, groups, and communities.
Join us at Inspire9 for an inspiring evening with Lightning Talks from four special guests, sharing stories about the Power of Weak Ties, followed by an interactive speed networking session.
Our panelists include:
David Dixon (One Girl (http://www.onegirl.org.au/) #doitinadress) Elise Bialylew (Mindful in May (http://www.mindfulinmay.org/)) David Flanders (GovHack (http://www.govhack.org/) & Open Knowledge Foundation Australia (http://au.okfn.org/)) The interactive speed networking will run in a 7 by 7 format: every 7-minutes two people will have a conversation on what they are working on or wish they were, passions, skills and expertise they have to offer or are looking for.
The positive energy from these initial connections will flow through into the last part of the event - with a more open format where people can form small groups for more in-depth discussion - following leads, connections, and generative conversations of possibility.
Doors open at 6.30pm for drinks, nibbles and a quick catch up for a 7:00pm start. The formal program for the evening runs until 9:00pm, followed by drinks and whole lot more conversation :)
