The Fishermen is a powerful and lyrical novel set in 1990s Nigeria, following four brothers whose lives take a tragic turn after they encounter a local prophet. His ominous prediction sets off a chain of events that tests their bond, unravels their family, and explores themes of fate, brotherhood, and the weight of prophecy.
Chigozie Obioma’s writing blends myth, folklore, and psychological depth, drawing comparisons to literary greats like Chinua Achebe and William Faulkner. The novel paints a vivid picture of family dynamics, societal changes, and the complexities of belief.
