Hike: Kupferdreher Rundweg

Hi all,

spring is there, therefore it's time for some nice hiking in the Essen area.
Today we'll be hiking the Kupferdreher Rundweg.

Meeting point: Essen-Kupferdreh train station, platform 2, 12:26 PM.
(Important: Trains of the Deutsche Bahn often do not operate reliably. Please allow plenty of time for changes.)

Course:
The Kupferdreher Rundweg starts and ends in Essen-Kupferdreh. We will pass the minerals museum Essen-Kupferdreh, the bridge Hundebrücke, walk through the nature reserve Asbachtal, and will be hiking along the river Ruhr.
The small trail has some steep and exposed sections. It's a steady up and down, mostly in the forests, and it provides us with good views on valleys, pastures, and streams.

Distance: 21 k
Elevation: 730 metres
Duration: 6 hours
Difficulty: medium

What to bring: Water and a snack. Good idea to keep it light. Please don't overdress since there are very steep inclines that will heat you up for sure. Don't forget a rain jacket if rain is in the forecast.

Speed: not slow. Let's hike together as one group. Good endurance is necessary. We can't wait for untrained or slow hikers.

Pauses: No lunch break. It's a good idea to have eaten something before the hike. We'll try to avoid having pauses and keep going.
Eating a snack is totally fine as long as you do it while hiking.

Weather: We'll do it rain or shine.
