About us
I just moved to Colonial Beach full-time after being a weekender for the last few years and I want to make friends! I love to read and I've been in book clubs for years and have found them to be a great way to get to know people, so I figured I'd start one here.
We'll meet once a month and primarily read fiction, although we might throw in a memoir or biography now and then. No specific genre. One thing I enjoy is trying new books that other members suggest that I wouldn't otherwise read.
Our first meetup will be on Wednesday, September 30th at 6pm on the patio at Drift. This will be more of a happy hour/get to know each other gathering, and we can choose the books for the next few months.
Going forward, we'll meet the last Wednesday of every month, except if we need to reschedule due to a holiday. Each meetup will be limited to 12 people to keep the conversation manageable, and there will be a waitlist in case anybody cancels.
Annual membership dues will be $5.00 to cover the cost of the Meetup platform, with a 60-day free trial period.
