What we’re about
Hi Everyone,
Welcome to ROCKY MOUNTAIN CAMPING AND GETAWAYS OF COLORADO
This group is made up for those who:
~ like to meet others, go kayaking, paddle boating, canoeing, hiking, fishing, mountain biking and whatever else you'd like to do...but camping get togethers are the main priority of all.
~ are dispersed campers (free camping)
~ leaves politics, religion and personal drama at home
~ will show kindness and respect allowing others to share their conversations
~ and, for those who show consideration for the organizers of this group who look for places to camp for those who are members within the group and not other groups.
~ But what is most important is: Your suggestions will always be welcome and will be taken into consideration and probably posted. I am always looking for new places to go camping, outdoor recreation, mountain music, brewery and art festivities.
I was born and raised in the State of Colorado and very fortunate I had parents who loved to travel around within this great state and took my brothers and me to places some folks have never seen or experienced. Having high school buddies who liked to take unauthorized outdoor labs were a trip also!!! When I go camping I still have the kid in me who says, "let's go have fun before it's too late."
I love the state I've called home all my life and the historical value of what it stands for. I became an elementary school, middle school, high school all the way to becoming a college Colorado History teacher/instructor. I've written two Colorado History Books that I've never had published. One titled, I DON'T KNOW WHERE I'M GOING TO UNTIL I GET THERE and the other one titled, I'VE GONE TO FIND MYSELF, IF I GET BACK BEFORE I RETURN KEEP ME HERE.
It’s a place wherever I go I'm in her shadow even if it’s a Buena Vista morning, a Durango afternoon or sitting around a Mesa Verde campfire looking at the majestic landscapes, startling panoramas and an amazing ecological and topographical diversity. It’s a land of uncompromising beauty, dominated by lofty, snow-capped peaks; creased by precipitous canyons and broad valleys; and rimmed by distant horizons, mesas, and buttes.
Colorado, the eighth-largest state, stretches across North America's midsection. This giant, rectangular 104,091-square mile state bestrides the Continental Divide, the great twisting spine that separates the Atlantic and Pacific watersheds where the sun shines through the rain and where the sun melts the snow and makes the rivers flow to the sea.
It’s certainly a place where people have found a peace of mind and a natural love for Mother Nature. As we drive down the ribbons of highways remember we are a reflection of this world.
Again, I welcome you to ROCKY MOUNTAIN CAMPING AND GETAWAYS OF COLORADO..Always be ready to go!
Sincerely,
Don
