This group is a safe place where you can gain support in your time of need. It is facilitated by a skilled counseling professional. Email onebeingcounseling@gmail.com to sign up and obtain the Zoom link. (You will not be asked for donations in this group.)
It is important that we provide a safe place for all participants in the group during each session. The following rules will ensure that all participants feel safe and get the support they need in group sessions:
Respectful communication-Participants are asked to commit to communicating respectfully and refraining from disparaging other genders, cultures, or minority groups when expressing their thoughts and feelings.
Brief sharing- Participants are asked to limit sharing to 1 to 3 minutes at a time to allow time for all participants to share or participate in the exchange of support. Save long stories for individual therapy sessions and be mindful of the needs of other participants in the group.
Privacy and confidentiality-Although this is an open, publicly offered group, what is shared in the group should not be shared outside of the group.
Active listening- Participants are asked to agree to actively listen to others without interrupting or passing judgment on what is shared. Reflect what you have heard another person share so they feel heard.
Empathy and understanding-Participants are asked to show empathy and understanding towards others, acknowledging that everyone’s experiences and perspectives are valid. Expressing empathy involves reflecting on what you imagine the other person feels and allowing them to provide feedback.
No unsolicited advice-Participants are asked refrain from offering unsolicited advice and instead focus on providing support and empathy.
