🎓 Topic: Orexin Treatments for Hypersomnias: Why Aren’t We There Yet?

Details
Hi Everyone,
We hope you’ll join us for the next Colorado Narcolepsy & IH Support Group meeting on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM MT — with Dr. John Harsh.

Topic: Orexin Treatments for Hypersomnia's: Why Aren’t We There Yet?In the late 1990s, researchers discovered that narcolepsy type 1 is an orexin deficiency disorder—a breakthrough that promised transformative treatments for narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia.
Yet 25 years later, we’re still waiting for an orexin-based therapy.
Dr. Harsh, a clinician and sleep scientist with decades of expertise, will explore:
• Why progress has been so slow

• Challenges researchers have faced

• Why an orexin-based treatment may soon become a reality

While these therapies may not work for everyone, they could mark a major step toward improving life for many people with narcolepsy and IH.
