Winter Solstice Sunrise Vigil

Details

Here marks the annual observation of the Sunrise occurring at 6:57am on the Winter Solstice, which is the shortest day of the year. At higher longitudes below the Arctic Circle, the Sun can appear to hover at the horizon in this same spot for days. Here the Sunrise is at its most southeastern with the Sun's rays reaching the Tropic of Capricorn. Light will begin to restore the Land and its life for the months to come triggering the subtle starts of Spring. I'll bring along my thermos filled with perhaps some peppermint tea or robust coffee plus a few mugs to further share a moment of quiet meditation and reflection.

Lets face it: the seasonal weather has become even more unpredictable here lately. There could be blizzard warnings come Yuletide or it could be in the 60s. Regardless, please take the safest of precautions in arriving and dress warm. If severe Winter weather does impact our region I will be sure to cancel the event albeit regrettably.

Also remember to bring along a blanket or some lawn chairs if you'd like to sit on the ground because the gravel of the pullover spot isn't too comfortable. There is plenty of room to view the Sunrise but not a whole lot of space to sit besides that rocky area.

The event's scheduled conclusion is open-ended. Since it's Saturday and there are a few restaurants nearby that will be open, I'm more than happy to continue the Wintertime celebration inside with a quick bite to eat or more fresh coffee. Here's to a restful and inspirational Wintertime filled with blessings and harmony!
