Creativity Meet-N-Greet for Drawing, Journaling, Coloring, Writing, and more

Details
*** This is a safe space event in a crossposting from my role as a co-organizer with The Mighty-Colorado Springs ***
You may have heard by now that something as simple as coloring pictures like we did as children can reduce stress. Well, there's even more to it. Creative acts can summon a mindfulness similar to that found in meditation. They release beneficial hormones in addition to offering that sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. It's been a tool of healing for ages. Modern studies have proven how creativity can:
- Improve mental health
- Boost immunity
- Raise intelligence
- Increase happiness
(see the links cited below for further information)
We'll be gathering to discuss and share our personal creative interests to best understand our available resources as artists, meaning our skills and talents not simply "paint and canvas", and harness a creative quality that we can use whenever and however the mood may strike us.
KaPow is locally-owned offering a fun and friendly environment with the coffee shop in its own section off and away from the comic book side of things. The attendee limit is in consideration of KaPow's barista and further accommodations can be made should more numbers wish to attend; please contact me if you're interested but the attendee limit has been reached. We'll be seated at a spot for The Mighty, so just look for the placard, which is a red-colored sheet of paper with "The Mighty" written in white. There is never any obligation to order any coffee or purchase anything. This is solely to promote calm and comfort as we learn more about art, about ourselves and about what we want to make.
Don't worry about bringing a bunch of supplies, colored pencils, paper or whatnot. Instead bring your sense of wonder and joy of creating -- recalling that thought creates all things -- in an introductory brainstorming of what we'd like to do in future meetings. Lets start by keeping things simple and suggestible while we discover how this source of healing might be of more benefit to us all.
To be precise this is to help facilitate personal art projects as a hobby, but if we wanted to start a larger group project there are options for that, too. Only limit is the imagination. Onwards and upwards; excelsior!
