IMPORTANT NOTICE. PLEASE READ BEFORE REGISTERING FOR THIS EVENT.
A CSC ride leader will not be in attendance for this month's ride. CSC riders must sign in as guest riders of SoCo Velo to participate.

SoCo Velo has invited CSC members to ride with them on their monthly Hanover VFD Pancake ride. Please review the description below. We will stop for pancakes so bring cash. The route is 40 miles with 1500 feet of climbing. There may be strong winds. We will have a CSC Ride Leader and CSC members will sign in using our CSC form (similar process to the Saturday Buffalo Lodge ride). Non-CSC members must register as guests on the SoCo Velo site and sign the SoCo Velo waiver.

If you plan to attend please RSVP below so that SoCo Velo can provide the Hanover VFD with a headcount. Please wear your Colorado Springs Cycling Club jersey if you have one. We expect the large group will break into two groups - one faster and one slower. Please arrive early enough to check your bikes ABCs (air, brakes, chain) so we can roll out on time. You must bring a tire repair kit and spare tube to change a flat. Also a multi tool should be considered. It is your responsibility to have a working bike, dress appropriately for the weather, remain hydrated and to consume enough calories. Helmets must be worn whenever you are riding the bike.

Description from SoCo Velo:

Arrive at 7:45 am or earlier.
Latest arrival time is 8:00 am with a rollout at 8:05 am.

ROUTE: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/39063821

LOCATION:
Fountain Library Parking Lot, 230 S Main St, Fountain, CO 80817

FOCUS: Group will ride together out of town and try to stay together as much as possible. Some rolling hill make this tricky on the first leg. The faster group will ride at an overall average of 16+ mph but some sections might dabble into 18-20 mph. Faster riders can ride ahead to the regroup or double back to add miles. The CSC Ride leader will ride at at an overall average speed similar to our Wednesday morning rides - i.e., approximately 12 mph - 14 mph. Rear lights required.

REGROUP: Regroups will occur at each change of direction.

SAFETY: Traffic is very light and for the most part the road is in good condition.

Hydration & Fuel
In the event that the fire department is not doing breakfast (we do not actually check if the event is on before the ride), make sure to be prepared with enough food and water just in case. But the only time they've been closed to my knowledge is during Covid. At the half way point for both routes we stop at the Hanover Fire Station to eat. It's a cash or credit breakfast with many breakfast items made to order. Would estimate around 5 dollars would set you up plus it's nice to drop a good tip since it's a fundraiser. Typically the group will finish before noon back at the library. - Happy Riding
