🎯 RULES & GUIDELINES
(aka how to shine and keep it safe)
➢ No lifts, aerials, or weight-supported moves above waist height
➢ Floorcraft matters, stay in your slot/line
➢ Timing is key, stay in the basic rhythm of the dance
➢ Connection required, handhold or frame contact for at least 50% of the phrase
➢ Attire: social dancewear only; dance-appropriate shoes; no props or costumes
➢ Role-neutral. Leaders & Followers of any gender welcome
➢ Respect always, unsafe or disrespectful behavior = immediate disqualification
💃 SALSA-SPECIFIC
➢ Style: NY-style on 2 or LA-style on 1 (choose one and stay consistent)
➢ Shines: up to an 8-bar solo, then reconnect within the next 4 bars
➢ Tricks: splits & assisted drops allowed below the hip line
➢ Both partners must keep at least one foot on the floor
🌊 BACHATA-SPECIFIC
➢ Styles allowed: Traditional, Modern, or Sensual
➢ Stay musically consistent throughout the song
➢ Body isolations & dips allowed as long as the Follower’s center stays over their own base
➢ 🚫 No head-roll dips that hyper-extend the neck — safety is non-negotiable
