Castle Rock is a thriving community, and the Town’s Western heritage is alive and well. Don’t miss a weekend full of activities to celebrate the community’s history and honor a longstanding tradition — the Douglas County Fair and Rodeo.

The Western Heritage Welcome Cattle Drive kicks off the celebration and honors a time when large herds of cattle were driven through Downtown Castle Rock. Cowboys and city folk alike are invited to join the celebration from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 26.

Grab a spot along Perry Street for the best view as cowhands drive a herd of Texas Longhorns from Rock Park, down Perry Street, and into a corral near Festival Park. This year's celebration features an exciting new addition. The Rocky Mountain Indigenous Dancers, made up of members of tribes from across the plains, will lead the cattle drive with a captivating processional performance.

After the cattle drive, the fun continues in Festival Park with ongoing performances by the Rocky Mountain Indigenous Dancers, opportunities for old-time photos, delicious food truck fare and entertainment for all ages.

Meetup Parking:
option 1: arrive early to Park at Iron Mule, or at the school administration building.
option 2: Park at the Museum, on 420 Elbert St, and walk a couple blocks to Iron Mule on Perry St.
Coming South on I-25, exit at Wolfensburger Rd. Turn East to go over the bridge to Wilcox St. Make the first right turn, West, to 8th St, and that turns into Jerry St. follow to 4th St, turn West to Elbert, and turn right. Half a block down is the museum.

Starting at 5 a.m., parking will not be available on Perry Street. Parking will also be closed at Rock Park. From 4 to 7 p.m., Perry Street will be closed from Scott Street to South Street. Please keep safety in mind and stay behind the protective barriers along Perry Street.
