What we’re about
Welcome Black Creatives!
The purpose of this group is to provide an on-going safe space for Black writers of all genres ( fiction, non-fiction, poetry, short story, novel, screenwriting, playwriting, memoir, comedy etc.) to write together and share writing in process. We are creating a space to share resources, receive encouragement, critique if wanted.
We will hold online mtgs and encourage attendees from across the US and globally.
In the future, we will explore in-person connections in various regions based on interest. This group is open to people identifying as Black or Bi-racial from all parts of the Diaspora (for example African-American, African, Jamaican, Puerto Rican, black people in Europe, South America, Asia etc). We are open to all ages and levels of writing.
We are open to creatives seeking support and wanting to build an online community to encourage, uplift and foster other Black writers and our multitude of perspectives, imaginations and life experiences that we bring to the writing table. We will encourage networking with other creatives, celebrate successes and provide a soft place to fall when we encounter rejections or closed doors. Our meetups will include a variety of sessions including writing sessions, reading sessions, writing workshops, guest speakers and craft focused discussions all with a focus on inspiring and highlighting Black Writing.
We are open to all genders (female, male, trans and non-binary or gender non-conforming). We are welcoming to heterosexual, gay, lesbian, bisexual, and non-identifying. We seek to create a positive open space.
We are building a strong community together so event or discussion ideas and mtg time suggestions are welcome.
***We request cameras on during sharing to promote a safe space for all.***
