Healing the World as We Heal Ourselves through Unconditional Solidarity
Details
Meditation practices promote a basic orientation toward mindfulness, presence, and compassion. NVC (Nonviolent Communication) teaches the particular skills of compassionate presence in our relationships. Thus Zen and NVC are naturally complementary and mutually reinforcing.
This workshop will integrate Zen and NVC practices, with particular attention to the five intelligences (social, emotional, multispecies, ecological, and spiritual). Our goal is to foster connection to all of life, to enhance community, and to grow our capacity to care for ourselves, others, our societies, and our biotic communities.
This a collaborative effort between One Earth Conservation and One Earth Zen and led by:
Rev. Meredith Garmon, PhD, and Rev. LoraKim Joyner, DVM
Meredith is a former assistant professor of philosophy, then was a Unitarian Universalist minister for 21 years, and now, as an Associate Zen Teacher (Open Mind Zen), leads One Earth Zen.
LoraKim is a wildlife veterinarian, parrot conservationist, Certified Trainer in Nonviolent Communication, and Unitarian Universalist
