Are You Hem, Haw, Sniff, or Scurry?
Details
March's will be conducted by Bro. L. Quaneck Walkes Commander in a study of Freemasonry, discusses the topic:
"Are You Hem, Haw, Sniff, or Scurry? A Community Conversation on Change, Leadership, and Everyday Life"
Synopsis:
Change affects everyone—families, jobs, churches, neighborhoods, and communities. Whether it is rising costs, new technology, changes in leadership, or shifts in social expectations, change often brings uncertainty. While change is unavoidable, how people respond to it determines whether they grow, struggle, or remain stuck.
This discussion uses the book Who Moved My Cheese? by Dr. Spencer Johnson to explore how people respond to change. The story’s characters represent common ways people think, feel, and act when something important changes. We will also look at leadership values found in many community and service organizations, including ethical traditions such as Freemasonry, which emphasize personal responsibility, respect for others, and lifelong learning. These ideas are shared to encourage reflection—not to require membership or special knowledge.
Mission Statement:
The Masonic Philosophical Society embraces the concept of learning, not for school, but for life, and believes that all men, who seek it, deserve access to continued education. We further embrace the concept of a community environment where ideas can be shared and debated in an open forum. From the seven liberal arts to the arcane, we seek to gain and share the knowledge that is the legacy of mankind.
