Midlands WOC in STEM Meetup

Let's be clear about the moment we're in:
Black women's unemployment rate has climbed to levels not seen in years — even as we hold advanced degrees and 10+ years of specialized experience. Latina and Indigenous women in STEM face similar economic vulnerability. Across the tech sector, women of color are disproportionately impacted by layoffs, often the first cut during "restructuring" despite being among the last hired.
Meanwhile, the political landscape has shifted dramatically:

• Diversity, Equity and Inclusion programs are being dismantled across corporate America
• Workplace protections are being rolled back at federal and state levels
• Legal challenges to equity initiatives are reshaping hiring and promotion practices
• Companies are retreating from equity commitments they made just a few years ago

The data is undeniable. The threat is real. And women of color in STEM are navigating the most hostile and uncertain workplace environment in a generation.
This summit exists because we refuse to let this moment define us.
