Winter Photo Tour in Hocking Hills

Details
Hocking Hills is full of amazing photographic opportunities regardless of the time of year. The Winter season transforms the gorge into a "Winter Wonderland" with ice formations and the occasional snow. I will lead a small group of photographers on a tour to some of my favorite places in Hocking Hills and will assist with camera questions and give creative and practical photography pointers throughout our trip. If you love (or at least don't mind) the Winter weather and want to check out Hocking Hills then this event is for you! So join us for a fun Winter photo-hike and although it sounds crazy - hope for snow!
**Not an early morning person? You can still sign up and just meet us at the Hocking Hills Visitors Center at 9:00a instead of the 7:00a meeting location**
Itinerary:
7:00a Meet at the Conkle's Hollow parking lot
7:10a Hike up the rim trail (moderate hike) to vista
7:30-8:30a Photograph the sunrise at Conkle's Hollow
8:30-9:00a Head to Hocking Hills State Park Visitor Center
9:00-11:30a Hike/Photograph along the Grandma Gatewood Trail (Upper Falls to Old Man's Cave)
11:30a-12:00p Lunch Break & discussion of where to go next.
12:00-12:15p Carpool to the chosen location
12:15-2:00p Photograph final location
NOTE: Tentatively I have our photo-hike ending at 2 p.m. but this will mostly depend on everyone's schedules and energy levels.
What to bring:
• Flashlight or headlamp (recommended)
• Camera & Lenses
• Extra batteries and your charger
• Tripod (recommended)
• Winter boots with grip (consider Yaktrax http://a.co/emAAYIO)
• Winter/waterproof clothing DRESS IN LAYERS!
• PACK A LUNCH, snacks, and plenty of water
Weather: This is a rain, snow, or shine event. The likelihood of it being canceled is extremely low, so by signing up, you are committing to braving the elements with us.
Caution: The sandstone cliffs are 200 ft. high and the surface is covered with a thin layer of sand and possibly snow/ice this time of year. The trail runs alongside the rim of the gorge and at times there is only 3-4ft. between you and the edge. Your safety is your responsibility, please wear shoes that have traction and bring a flashlight or headlamp.
Note: If you are afraid of heights or incapable of a moderate hike up to the rim trail, you are welcome to explore the gorge trail during the first part of our day. It's one way in and out so you won't get lost, even if you are alone down there.
