We all live in existential dread of the next nuclear war, but exactly how did scientists come up with the idea of the atomic bomb? We'll discuss the principles of nuclear fission (and fusion) and critical reactions.
Should we have dropped it at all, and has it perversely been a "good" thing since we have not had any world wars or use of it since WW II?
And do we need to keep making bigger and more destructive ones, like the hydrogen bomb?
