React Styled Components: Making CSS Maintainable
Front end applications need styling, but it can be hard to do well. Traditional CSS is powerful, but can be hard to read and refactor. Different libraries sacrifice flexibility and customizability to make premade components. What is there was another way? Welcome to styled components.

In this talk we will cover why styled components exist, and what makes them so powerful. Then, we will walk through a simple implementation of styled components, and demonstrate how to add to an existing styled component application.

About Drake
Drake is a lifelong learner, and he became a software developer so there would always be more to learn. Since entering the industry, he has worked as a consultant of full stack web applications, as well as some DevOps and infrastructure, on a variety of clouds and tech stacks, with a bias towards Microsoft.
Drake is active in the Columbus Tech scene, both as an attendee and a presenter, and is always happy to help mentor junior developers (though he has a long recommended reading list).
When he should be sleeping, Drake volunteers with Rotary Youth Exchange. He designed the language curriculum the students now use to prepare to study abroad, which is considered the best in North America. He is currently learning his sixth language.
