Metro Bar/Pub Crawl

Get ready to ride the rails and raise a glass! We are taking the Tyne & Wear Metro Yellow Line on an epic pub crawl all the way from the coast to the city centre. Expect great drinks, questionable decisions, and a lot of walking.

When: Saturday 22nd August 2026

Starting Location: Whitley Bay

• Don't be late: You’re welcome to join the ride at any time so if you miss the start, check the event page to see where we are! But that may limit your chances of winning the bingo if you’re participating!

We will be moving inland from the coast, stopping at a few key stations along the Yellow Line. Exact route and timings TBC but the plan is: Whitely Bay - Cullercoats - Tynemouth - North Shields - Chillingham Road - Monument - St James.

Along the way, everyone will get a Pub Bingo Card. Complete the challenges and the first person to get 5 squares in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) wins the early-bird prize and then we can continue until someone gets full house.

Bingo Rules:

• One Card Per Person: Handed out at the very first bar/pub in Whitley Bay. No working in teams—this is every person for themselves.
• Eyes on the Prize and Cross off the Squares: Keep your card handy on your phone or printed out. Prompts can be ticked off inside the bars, walking on the streets, or while riding inside the Metro carriages.
• The Visual Proof: To claim a square (e.g., Spotting a Greggs Pitstop or A dog wearing a jacket), you must either point it out live to at least one other group member as a witness, or take a quick photo/video of it.
• To Win The Line (The Sprint): The first person to get 5 squares in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally) shouts “FENDER’s BENDER” and wins the early-bird prize!
• To Win The Full House (The Marathon): The game continues all the way until we reach Newcastle city centre. The player with the most total checked squares by the time we leave the final bar is crowned the overall Crawl Champion.
• Pace Yourself: Drink water at the Free Space!
• Mind the Locals: Have fun but always be respectful to the metro staff, bartenders, local commuters, and of course your fellow crawlers.

• A Valid Metro Ticket: You can purchase a full day ticket!!
• A Pen/Marker/Pencil/Eyeliner/Lipstick (whatever works): Essential for marking off your bingo squares.
