Human Natures: Aristoi in Modernity Week 18

We are an aimless, obtuse population of dependents and “victims”; our system of rule and motivation takes for granted our utter compliancy and servility, and we do not disappoint it. In our minds most of all, we are trained to be slaves to an order we trust to tell us what is important to know, what reasons we are living for, what is healthy and sane, and what our ultimate responsibilities are. Moderns are slaves to their inhuman slaves. But indeed it can make no sense to blame the devices and conveniences we have capitulated to: not just nature but the world of artifice too abhors a vacuum. Technology has grown into technocracy opportunistically and by default, to fill the void of principles of individualizing self-determination (culture, values, conscience, philosophy, religion).
