CODE 8: Powers, Poverty and Policing

As AI-powered surveillance tools increasingly shape how protests, neighborhoods, and daily life are monitored, questions about power, oversight, and who gets watched have never felt more urgent. This feels like a timely moment to explore these tensions through film. We invite you to an upcoming session of the Open Talk Series at Hosei University: "CODE 8: Powers, Poverty and Policing."

Following a screening of Code 8, director Jeff Chan will join us to discuss the motivations behind the film and the ideas that shaped it, followed by a cross-disciplinary discussion with Naruhiko TAKESADA, and Jason H.C. Cheung, moderated by Juri Tamura.
