*We love our men friends, but this meeting is just for women--Sorry!

Ordinarily, Women's Spiritual Journey randomly picks a different character trait to discuss each month. Discussions are freewheeling, guided by the interests of the group. Generally, we think about how the quality operates in our lives (or doesn't), what it looks like, what it produces, and how we can strengthen it. This month, we're discussing...Caring.

Caring
Caring is giving tender attention to the people and things that matter to us. It is being a compassionate witness, listening to another wholeheartedly and without judgment. We show that we care with thoughtful acts and kind words. When we do a careful job, we give it our best effort. We are not indifferent to things that matter. We care deeply about the principles we believe in. Caring is a sign of love. When we care for others, we notice how they feel and what they need. When we care for ourselves, we have more to give to others. Caring is a gift from the heart.
“One who cares, listens.” ~Paul Tillich
The Practice of Caring
I take an interest in others and listen deeply.
I look for ways to be considerate and helpful.
I am gentle and loving with anyone and anything placed in my care.
I give excellence to whatever I do.
I am passionate about my beliefs.
I take good care of myself.
I am thankful for the gift of Caring.
It helps me to express my love.
Care to consider these? 😊

  1. Can you think of a time you’ve shown tender attention to someone you care about? How about a thing that matters to you?
  2. What are some things that matter to you and why?
  3. Can you think of a time someone has shown tender attention to you?
  4. Have you ever shown tender attention to a stranger? Should you? Why or why not?
  5. Is it difficult for you to listen without judgement? If so, what do you think gets in the way? How might you counter it?
  6. Why is it important not to judge others? Are there times when you should?
  7. Do you listen to your thoughts, feelings, and words without judgement? If not, is there a particular sort of judgement you apply to your self.
  8. What are some of your most deeply held principles?
  9. In what ways do you care for yourself? Should you do more or do you have a good balance?
