Saturday August 6- Hike the West fork of the San Gabriel River. This is a gorgeous hike in the San Gabriel Mountains with spectacular views, old growth forest, lots of trees, and plenty of shade. You may see bear, deer, puma, native trout, and Prince William, so bring your camera! This area was unaffected by the Station Fire, so it should be beautiful! You will be crossing the river several times, so wear your water shoes or old shoes that can get wet. The hike is 10 Miles RT and is moderately difficult. It will be HOT, so bring plenty of water, lunch, snacks, sunscreen, hat, good boots, and poles will be helpful. Meet at Towsley park OUTSIDE the gate at 7AM to carpool or meet at Trail Head at 8AM Directions to trail head: Take I 5 South To 210 FWY East to Angeles Crest Hwy off ramp. Turn Left go up the hill approx 30 Mi thru intersection of Angeles Forest Hwy keep going to Red Box Ranger station. (There is a big red wooden box there.) BE SURE TO HAVE PLENTY OF GAS-NONE IS AVAILABLE UP THERE. Meet in the Parking Lot. Adventure Pass required. Leader: Richard
