9 mile Hike Fish Canyon to Piano Box

Fish Canyon is a gorgeous hike in Castaic.

The hike is 9 miles RT. The scenery is absolutely outstanding. You might want to bring a camera. The creek will probably be running, and it is lovely. http://photos4.meetupstatic.com/photos/event/e/5/3/a/event_63418682.jpegYou will feel like you’ve been on vacation when you see the stands of Sycamore, Oaks and Willows. We will take an asphalt road down to the trail head, then we’ll be on a dirt road for 3 miles before we branch off onto a single track trail to an area called Piano Box. Your feet and lower pants will get wet, so wear shoes that you don’t care much about, and pants that will dry quickly. I do not recommend shorts since there is poison oak bordering the trail in many areas.

Bring lunch, shoes for water crossings if we have had rain, lots of water and snacks.

Meet at the OUTSIDE gate of Towsley Canyon by 8:15 for an 8:30 departure to the trail head.

If you would like to meet us at the trail head, take the I-5 North to Templin Hwy. Exit. Turn right. Follow this road until it ends at a white barricade. Park. This is where we will meet at 8:50. Don’t be late! You’ll never find us!
