What we’re about
A salon for discussion, creative exploration, and study of emergent phenomena and complex systems in nature. From ant colonies to murmurations of starlings to mycorrhizal networks in forests, emergent phenomena are all around us. We will focus on complex systems for their own sake, and for what they can teach us about human communities. Open to researchers, artists, and curious seekers.
If you are new to the ideas of complex systems, see the short introduction in the Meetup Discussion for this group. Two very useful books for newbies are Melanie Mitchell's "Complexity: A Guided Tour" and Steven Johnson's "Emergence: The Connected Lives of Ants, Brains, Cities, and Software."
