Albert Kao, assistant professor at U Mass Boston, will give a brief talk about his work which focuses on understanding collective decision-making in animal groups. Collective decision-making abounds everywhere in nature and includes dynamics within a cell, the output of a brain, consensus among birds in a flock, and democratic governments. There will be a brief talk followed by Q&A.

Come learn more about flocking, schooling, herding behaviors, and meet with friends who share your curiosity about emergence! Boston Public Library, Mezzanine Conference Room 2.
