A discussion on a model for transformation

Details

Agenda:
5:30 - 6:00PM - Socialization/Networking
6:00 - 7:30PM - Presentation (including breakout rooms and discussion)
7:30 - 8:00PM - Q&A and Wrapup

Often we get caught in some sort of transformation (Agile and Digital are the latest, but there were many before). We are there from the beginning, arrive in the middle or after the transformation. The common theme is outcomes are not always those expected.

In today's discussion we will try to figure out, looking at an existing model or approach, how can we better prepare for a transformation or understand how to deal with its elements when unexpected outcomes emerge.

Considering the Lean transformation model promoted by LEI (Lean Enterprise Institute), we will have small group discussions over its applicability to our current work. We will all participate and contribute. Being on camera is an expectation for this session.

The session will have five segments unfolding the same way:

  • We are introduced to one of the five elements of the model (3-5 min)
  • We will have a small group breakout session to answer the questions such as: How is it applicable to current work, how can it help in future transformations, what was missing in the past and so on (10 min)
  • The small groups will reconvene and share the ideas generated by them (5 min)
  • At the end of the session, we would like to come up with the collective wisdom of how we can relate to the presented model.

If you want to be prepared, you can watch this 10 min video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kEcdliWZH30 where John Shook explains the model.

Hope you will join us to enjoy this working session.
