JD Carlston - Emergence and Abundance
Details
The Lounge is very excited to welcome JD Carlston as our June speaker. JD has spent their career delving into the intersection of complexity and distributed software architecture and engineering systems. In this talk, we'll examine relationships, research, and psychological links between emergence and abundance and related concepts that play into how we frame problems, intuit solutions, and build mindsets that allow us to thrive within complex sociotechnical systems. As such, the discussion will turn to flow, flow efficiency, and some principles we can use to thrive in challenging situations.
Bio:
Jennifer D. "JD" Carlston (they/she) is an enthusiastic collaborator in the realm of complex and distributed software architecture and engineering systems.
Their role has evolved significantly from Telco to FinTech, EdTech, and AI. They currently lead engineering teams through social and technological transformation and work to imlean-agilean agile methodologies and improve data and knowledge discovery. They have led distributed teams to deliver cutting-edge cloud technologies within event-driven systems. Their leadership extends beyond team management, helping to coordinate cross-functional communities worldwide and liaising directly with board members and C-suite executives to drive key technical initiatives.
They have a passion for knowledge sharing and mentorship - teaching coding and system engineering practices, not just within teams but across the broader engineering community. Their efforts in understanding and deconstructing complex systems, improving decision-making processes, streamlining lean agile practices, and enhancing architectures have helped push the effective delivery of value forward within various organizations.
In January 2024, JD joined Design Cycle Solutions (IoRX) as their Chief A.I. Architect, working with the founders to make their dream of revolutionizing the fashion industry while reducing its ecological footprint from the ground up a reality.
