Gregory Vigneaux - Humberto Maturana’s Time: Living in the Present
Details
We are thrilled to welcome Gregory Vigneaux back to the Lounge. Greg has made a deep study of the work of one of the giants in complexity theory, Humberto Maturana.
Join us for his presentation of Humberto Maturana’s work on time, covering both cultural time and biological “zero time.” Cultural time is a product of invention, while biological time comes from autopoiesis, the dynamics of the living. Maturana’s writings on time include journal articles and a letter, which has received some published commentary. This talk will explore the literature and expand on Maturana’s concepts of time, offering a deep and meandering look at cultural and biological time, their intersections, differences, and mutual focus on the present.
