KANSAS CITY IN THE 1930s: These were tough times! Prohibition. The Great Depression. The global economic crisis, which led to the closure of most American jazz clubs. All the great musicians of the era gathered in the "18th and Vine" (Kansas City's famous entertainment district). The city was buzzing! The extensive jam sessions after the concerts sparked a veritable jazz renaissance, comparable to the early years of New Orleans. The blues took on an urban flavor, melodies were transformed into catchy riffs, and the beat was brought up to date with the latest swing. Musicians like Benny Moten, Count Basie, and Lester Young are among the most important figures of this new era. Manfred Schütt & Blue Sheep have been inspired by the sound of Kansas City and, in the true tradition of jazz, reinterpret it with a fresh twist.
There will be swing dancing going on to the concert as well.

The concert is donation-based.

We'll meet at 20:00 or a bit earlier inside. My mobile number is 0151 56022062.
