Description
The Lake Eleanor Open Space encompasses a 250-300 foot-high ridge between Lake Eleanor
and the Las Virgenes Reservoir. As such, there is a great view all along the trail, and many
places have views in all directions. Side trails go straight up the ridge to local hilltops where the
views are even better, as is the opportunity for more exercise! There are three access points
from neighborhood streets; the main one is on Highgate Road and directions to it are listed
below.

Parking: Free on the street at trailheads
Distance: 2.6 miles, out and back from the Highgate Road trailhead.
Cumulative Climbing and Descent: about 450’ each.
Tread Surface: Singletrack trail. Many sections have loose rocks on the surface.
Hazards: No shade.
Facilities: None.
Connections: None to other open space areas.
Driving Directions: From the 101 Freeway in Thousand Oaks, exit at Westlake Blvd. and turn
south. Drive 1 mile and turn left onto Triunfo Canyon Rd. Continue 0.6 miles then turn right
onto Highgate Road. Drive 0.5 miles to the end and park on the street.
