Tech Tuesdays at CVMake - Meet Craftee: The Machine Learning Robot

Details
Craftee is a highly interactive, modular robot system powered by the NVIDIA Jetson Orin Nano, designed for real-time AI and robotics applications. It leverages ROS2 for communication between its various subsystems, which include advanced speech recognition (using NVIDIA Riva), natural language understanding (with SpaCy and intent matching), and conversational AI (via LangChain and Ollama with Llama 3.2 LLM).
Craftee can:
- Understand and process spoken commands and questions.
- Respond with high-quality, natural-sounding speech.
- Recognize objects and faces, and play games using its vision system.
- Control hardware components (motors, LEDs, dispensers) through Bluetooth-connected ESP32 microcontrollers.
- Tell jokes, report system health, and perform physical actions.
- Be controlled via a physical button panel for quick demos and actions.
The system is designed for extensibility and reliability, making it suitable for research, education, and entertainment. Its architecture allows for easy addition of new intents, jokes, and hardware modules, all while running advanced AI models locally on the Jetson Orin Nano—enabling fast, private, and cloud-independent operation.
